MHP MP Candidate, Aslan Detained on Charge of "Defaming President"

Actor and MHP MP candidate Mehmet Aslan has been taken into custody on charge of "defaming the President" in the investigation launched into him by İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
It has been reported, investigation was launched into Aslan on ground of his tweets.
Taken into custody and brought to İstanbul Security Directorate, Aslan is expected to appear before prosecutor's office to give his testimony this afternoon (January 17).
Acting in well-known TV-series like "The Doctors" (Doktorlar), Mehmet Aslan had served as İstanbul Provincial vice-Chair of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) between 2014-2015. In the last elections, he was the MHP candidate for İstanbul 2nd Region, 4th row. (NV/DG)
