The son of former Republican People's Party (CHP) Darıca Women's Branch chair Satı Bozkurt Ç.B. (27), who has a 82% disability, has been taken to a military induction center for being "draft dodger".
Ç.B. was released from Gebze Artillery Barrack on the condition that he would apply to the induction center within 15 days.
"The incident occurred during a gendarmerie traffic stop"
Satı Bozkurt spoke to Bahar Cesur from Kocaeli Barış Gazetesi (Kocaeli Peace Newspaper):
"We were heading towards İzmir with my son in the morning hours.
"We were told by the gendarmerie we encountered during an ID check that my son with 82% disability was draft dodger, and for this reason he needed to be taken to the military induction center".
"The state gave a medical report but it was denied by the commander"
Noting that her son was given a report by the state after he turned 18 declaring that he has an 82% disability, Bozkurt said:
"We were taken to Gebze Artillery Barrack. We explained the situation there and then we headed to another branch that was we were directed to by the gendarmerie.
"The commander denied us despite all the explanations I gave. They asked for another report from the hospital". (EKN/TK)
