According to the Occupational Health and Safety Council, at least 182 workers have lost their lives in occupational homicides in October and at least 1,683 workers in the first 10 months of 2017.
151 of these 182 workers were employees with the statute of laborer or public servants, 21 others are farmers/small-scale landowners and 31 are self-employed including 10 tradespeople.
Most of the homicides took place in construction sector (46) followed by agricultural and forestry sector (37), transportation sector (16) and mining sector (12.).
The most common cause of homicides was collapse/service accident (50) followed by falling from high(34), traffic accident (31), heart attack/stroke (18) and electric shock (11).
Occupational homicides by age
The distribution of the occupational homicide victims by age are:
2 workers in the age group of 15-17
30 workers in the age group of 18-27
89 workers in the age group of 28-50
36 workers in the age group of 51-64
8 workers above the age of 65
The ages of 17 workers could not be determined.

13 victims in İzmir; 12 victims in İstanbul, 11 victims in Bursa, 10 victims in Adana, 9 victims in Kocaeli, 8 victims in Antalya, Aydın and Şırnak each, 7 victims in Ankara, 6 victims in Tekirdağ, 5 victims in Adıyaman and Konya each, 4 victims in Denizli, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kayseri and Mersin each, 3 victims in Çorum, Malatya, Manisa, Muğla and Samsun each, 2 victims in Bayburt, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Isparta, Kastamonu, Kırklareli, Kırşehir, Niğde, Siirt, Sivas, Şanlıurfa, Tokat, Yozgat and Zonguldak each, 1 victim in Ağrı, Aksaray, Amasya, Ardahan, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Düzce, Elazığ, Eskişehir, Hakkari, Kahramanmaraş, Karabük, Karaman, Osmaniye, Sakarya, Yalova and Italy each.
