Comic artist, caricaturist Nuri Kurtcebe has been arrested his sentence of 1 year 2 months and 15 days in prison, which was issued on the ground that he insulted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in his caricatures, has been finalized.
His lawyer Ahmet Erdem Akyüz has stated that a warrant was issued for Kurtcebe due to a verdict rendered by Fethiye 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance in 2017 and he was detained on Sunday (June 3), and he was arrested by the court and sent to prison yesterday.
Fethiye 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance had ordered 1 year 2 months and 15 days in prison on the ground that he insulted President Erdoğan in the caricatures he drew in the first nine months in 2015, and the appeal made to the upper court was rejected. (AS/TK)
