Diyarbakır Governorship has announced that the curfew declared in 42 villages ahead of planned military operations, has been lifted after the operations were completed.
Curfew was declared in districts of Silvan, Hazro, Kocaköy, Kulp and Lice in predominantly Kurdish province of Diyarbakır in southeastern Turkey on November 29, 2017.
The Governorship announced on its official website, that the curfew was lifted as of December 1, 9 p.m.
The villages in which curfew was declared and operations were carried out are:
Ortaç, Yalaza, Çavundur, Dolunay, Bağlan, Kabakaya, Kutlu, Oyuklu, Türeli, Tepe, Budak, Dallıca, Sığınak, Kıyıköy, Çıralı, Kıpçak, Zümrüt and Damar villages in Lice district,
Kulp ilçesine bağlı Kamışlı, Çukurca, Akbulak, Demirli, Bayırköy, Düzce, Temren, Güleç, Taşköprü and Barın köyleri in Kulp distirct,
Hazro ilçesine bağlı Gözebaşı, Sarıerik, Çitlibahçe, Meşebağları, Kırmataş, Terdöken ve Kavaklıboğaz villages in Hazro district,
Dolaplıdere, Dağcılar, Mutluca and Çaldere villages in Silvan district,
Boyunlu, Arkbaşı and Tepecik villages in Kocaköy district.
According to the Turkish Statistical İnstitute, in 2014 Diyarbakır was Turkey’s 12th most populated city, with a population of 1,635,048. The population of the city center is 834,854.
Diyarbakır’s (Amed’s) city center has about 9000 years of recorded history. The Diyarbakır Castle and Gardens was named a Global Heritage site by UNESCO in 2015. Dicle University was opened in 1978.
