Vice PM Bozdağ on Sarraf: His Health Condition is Fine

Sending a diplomatic note to the United States (US) in the evening hours yesterday (November 15), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey demanded information from the relevant authorities concerning the status of Rıza Sarraf, who is of Iranian origin and is a citizen of Turkey.

Vice Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson Bekir Bozdağ said that the US made an oral statement to them and added, "It was stated that Sarraf's health condition is fine".

"Some circles twist this note"

Stressing that "Rıza Sarraf is a citizen of Republic of Turkey, as you know", Bozdağ in his statement said:

"There were reports in the media that Rıza Sarraf is not being heard from. His lawyer made a statement in line with this. Upon that statement, the government of Turkey sent a diplomatic note to the US to receive information about the situation of our citizen.

"Some circles twist this note. A note is originally a diplomatic correspondence. Other countries have sent notes to us as well when they demand information from us.

"The US conveyed an oral statement and it was stated that Rıza Sarraf's health condition is fine".

Jury trial is on November 27

Speaking to Hürriyet daily newspaper yesterday, Şeyda Yıldırım, one of Rıza Sarraf's lawyers expected to attend the jury trial on November 27, said that "The claim that he was released is not true. He might have been transferred to another section. We haven't been informed for five days". (PT/TK)
