The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has announced that it will send seven observers to Turkey in the period leading up to the Presidential and Parliamentary elections on June 24, 2018.
On the election day, the PACE will also send a delegation of 30 observers to monitor the elections.
The pre-election period will also be monitored
In the statement issued by the PACE, it has been stated that the observers, who will come to Turkey on May 29-30, will monitor not only the election process, but also the election campaigns and election preparations.
The PACE has also announced that the members of the PACE will meet the representatives of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and the political parties qualified to enter the elections as well as the representatives of the media and non-governmental organizations.
European Parliament will not send observers
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) previously stated that it will send observers to Turkey to monitor the elections.
In a statement published on May 23, the European Parliament (EP) announced that it will not send observers to Turkey to monitor the snap elections on June 24. The EP will also not comment on the process or results of the elections. (PT/SD)
