Interviewing to Le Figaro newspaper, President of France Emmanuel Macron has emphasized that Turkey’s military operation launched into Afrin should be “against terrorism”.
Warning Turkey, Macron said, “If it turns out that this operation takes a turn other than to fight a potential terrorist threat to the Turkish border and becomes an invasion operation, then this becomes a real problem for us”.
Furthermore, Macron noted that Turkey must be in coordination with its European allies.

Speaking to journalists following the meeting he held with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri at Çankaya Mansion, concerning Macron’s warning Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said:
“France’s thought is flawed. We don’t act in an invasive way. Turkey does what is required against all sorts of terrorist threats. These activities will in fact prevent a terror corridor from being formed in Syria and Iraq”.
