Gold-Plated Erdoğan Statue in Wiesbaden Removed

Gold-plated Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Wiesbaden, Germany has been removed. The statue was installed as part of the biennial organized in Wiesbaden and sparked debates.

The statue that was erected at German Union Square at Monday night was carried away by municipality teams at Tuesday evening.

According to Der Tagesspiegel newspaper, city administration was surprised with the statue as well. The statue will stay as part of the biennial until September 2, the newspaper reported.

“People with knives were seen”

After the statue was erected, “Fuck you” was written on it and after that debates sparked between anti-Erdoğan and pro-Erdoğan people.

Der Tagesspiegel reported that Constabulary Chief Franz said, “People with knives were also seen around the statue”.

“Erdoğan has been taken down in Wiesbaded”

Some people from Turkey living in Germany shared comments such as “Eroğdan has just been taken down in Wiesbaden” after the statue was removed. (PT/TK)
