Co-Mayor of Ağrı Province Taken Into Custody

Ağrı co-Mayor Mukaddes Kubilay has been taken into custody in İzmir.

Today (December 22) in the early morning hours, simultaneous operations were carried out in many residences by special operations police and anti-terror teams in İzmir. Many people including some provincial and district executives from the Peoples Democratic Party (HDP) were taken into custody.

Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Ağrı co-Mayor Mukaddes Kubilay was taken into custody in her daughter's house in İzmir, and her apartment in Ağrı was searched by police.

Mukaddes Kubilay had served as HDP İzmir co-Chair.

There are 69 arrested co-mayors from 45 municipalities governed by DBP. Trustees were appointed to 46 DBP municipalities. In the local elections in 2014, DBP was elected to govern municipalities of 106 provinces and districts. (ÇT/DG)
