Curfew followed by operations, clashes in Bitlis

The Governor's Office of Bitlis yesterday declared an indefinite curfew in the Hizan district due to ongoing military operations.

In a written statement, the governor's office justified the curfew in the district by citing the activities of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), referring to the groups as the "separatist terrorist organization." PKK members have established shelters and hideouts within the boundaries of the district, the statement emphasized.

Shortly after the curfew was announced at approximately 9:00 p.m. yesterday, a comprehensive operation was launched in the villages and hamlets in the area. Strict entry and exit restrictions have been imposed on residential areas.

Furthermore, early this morning, a series of raids were conducted in numerous households in the village of Yolbilen. As a result, three individuals have been apprehended and are currently being held at the Hizan District Gendarmerie Command.

According to the Mezopotamya Agency (MA), clashes have intensified in the region, particularly in the rural area of Yolbilen, where the operations are concentrated. (TY/VK)
