Dismissed Mardin Mayor Türk Investigated for Co-Chairpersonship

The Interior Ministry launched an investigation against the dismissed co-mayor of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, on the grounds of "co-chairmanship", the Mezopotamya Agency reported.

The inspectorate launched the investigation on September 3, 2019, and asked for Türk's defense.

Türk was asked to submit his defense within seven days and would otherwise be deemed to have avoided testifying, the notice said.

Türk, along with the mayors of the Kurdish-majority cities of Diyarbakır and Van, was replaced with a government-appointed trustee on August 19. (EMK)
