Journalists Outside initiative has made a call for the Cumhuriyet trial whose summary judgement will be held on April 24, 25, 26, 27.

The case is expected to be concluded
The trial of 20 defendants of whom Cumhuriyet Executive Board Chair Akın Atalay and social media user Ahmet Aydoğdu have been pending trial in detention will continue on April 20.
The trial held at İstanbul 27th Heavy Penal Court moved from Çağlayan to Silivri.
The case is expected to be concluded in the hearings that will be held during April 24, 25, 26, 27.
What happened?On October 31, 2016, İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office began investigating Cumhuriyet Foundation executives on charges of "Making publications that justify July 15 coup attempt" and "committing crime for PKK/KCK (Kurdistan Workers' Party/Kurdistan Communities Union) and FETÖ/PDY (Fethullahist Terrorist Organization/Parallel State Organization) as non members". The investigation was initially launched by prosecutor Murat İnam who was at the same time a suspect in the trial of "FETÖ (Fethullahist Terrorist Organization)". Five hearings have been held in the trial so far. * The Journalists Outside: When Ahmet Şık was arrested in Oda TV trial in 2011, a journalists' initiative called "Friends of Ahmet and Nedim (ANGA)" has started to organize demonstrations. The initiative has been named "The Journalists Outside" after Şık and Şener were released a year later. They carry on with their protests and demonstrations for their colleagues in prison due to OdaTV, KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Press, and Cumhuriyet trials.
