Pentagon delegation arrives in Ankara to hold talks

A delegation from the US Department of Defense arrived in Türkiye today (November 7), Minister of National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has announced.

The Türkiye-US High Level Defense Group was holding a meeting at the ministry, Akar said during a videoconference at the Turkish Air Force Command.

He did not share further details on the meeting.

The last meeting of the defense group took place on November 16, 2021, when the officials discussed a range of issues, including Türkiye's military modernization needs. The delegations had agreed to a follow-up meeting in Ankara.

Following its removal from the F-35 joint strike fighter program, Ankara has sought to buy more F-16s from the US, as well as modernization kits from its fleet. (VK)
