Survey: 62.8 percent say Turkey is poorly governed

Operational Research Company has shared the results of its "Turkey Political Panel January" survey with the public.

Conducted with the participation of 2,000 people in 27 cities of Turkey, the survey asked people about the "urgent problems of Turkey".

While the "economic crisis and lack of production" is on the top of the list of answers, it is followed by "inflation, high costs of living and difficulty in making ends meet", "unemployment", "injustice and unlawful court rulings" and "electricity and natural gas etc. prices".

The survey results have also shown that 56.4 percent of the respondents want a snap election. While 37.6 percent do not want snap elections to be held, 4.4 percent say that they are indecisive.

Which alliance?

The participants of the survey were first asked, "If we had Parliamentary elections next Sunday, for which alliance would you vote?"

While 40 percent opt for the Nation's Alliance of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and İYİ Party, 32.4 percent say that they would vote for the People's Alliance of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).

While 15 percent say that they would vote for a party outside these two alliances, 8 percent would not go to the polls.

Is Turkey governed well?

Participants were also asked to evaluate the governance of Turkey. 62.8 percent of the respondents answer that it is "governed poorly". While 22 percent say that "Turkey is governed well", 13.3 percent say that "it is governed neither poorly nor well."

When asked a question about Turkey's possible return to the Parliamentary government system, 61.4 percent of the participants say that they want Turkey to readopt the Parliamentary system. 29 percent prefer the current Presidential government system, according to survey results.

The survey also had a question of "If he runs for the President, will you vote for [current President] Recep Tayyip Erdoğan?" While 55.6 percent say, "Never", 32.2 percent say that they will vote for him.

Lastly, the respondents answered a question on for whom they would vote if the Presidential elections' second run was held next Sunday.

While 54 percent of the respondents opt for the candidate of the opposition parties, 32.9 percent prefer President and ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. (RT/SD)
