Women Cafe

While I was looking for a feminine chat, I have found myself in the women cafe. When I entered to this special environment, which is created just for women; I have seen a fascinating environment.

It was a café. But it was not a smoky one like the typical Turkish cafes; contrarily I met a wonderful flower smell. It was obvious that the owner of the cafe was a woman.

Because it could be understood that it was a woman-made cafe. And she told me that it was her husband's idea to open a woman cafe.

This cafe was first opened one and a half year ago and designed just for women. At the beginning the people responded negatively towards it however it was accepted by time even with increasing interest.

The aim of the cafe is not to play games etc.. And it is not a place for free house women. Women from every part of the city. Some of them knit, lace; some of them makes fancywork. Since the cafe has many customers' women can market their hand made products. So there is a production in this cafe.

Furthermore there is a playing room for children in the cafe. The women are searching for doctors to arrange an education for mothers and future mothers for the following weeks, another service of the cafe is to employee the women.

The women, who are looking for a job, are using the board where some job advertisements are hanged on. And when they find a suitable job they have the opportunity to make their interview with the employer in the cafe.

Another characteristic of the cafe is that it is a suitable place for meetings and appointments. Women cooperation organization is making the meetings here. Candidate woman demarches are giving their declaration to media in this cafe. Many women aim to get a place in management positions by being demarche.

As a result there are many candidate demarches in Eskişehir. However nobody wants to be a mayor. Most of the women complain about the same thing: the parties are in the hands of men and they do not support women.

And they pasifize the women. Moreover women do not take place in creative projects. Men are in forefront and everything belongs to them. Women do not trust on elections anymore and they are uncomfortable with the idea that the elected people are behind their own benefits. (OE/YE)
