Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Deputy Co-Chairs Pervin Buldan and Sezai Temelli have sent a letter to Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian Fard for Ramin Hüseyin Penahi, who is sentenced to capital punishment in Iran.
Iranian Kurdish Penahi was found guilty in a trial that lasted less than an hour on January 16, 2018 and sentenced to capital punishment. The court found Penahi guilty of “arming against the state” due to his membership to the Kurdish opposition group Komala.
His family said that Penahi had torture marks on his body when he stood trial at Revolution Court but the court didn’t issue an investigation order into the allegations that Penahi was forced to “confess” his crimes.
Execution of 22-year-old Penahi was deferred upon public reaction but his capital punishment can be implemented any time. (AS/TK)
