Austrian MP Alev Korun from the delegation of observers that the Council of Europe sent for the constitutional amendment referendum on April 16 has said, “There is suspicion of a possible manipulation of 2.5 million votes”.
According to BBC Türkçe, in her statements to Austria’s ORF radio Korun said heavy pressure was created especially in predominantly Kurdish regions, and that two members of the European Council Delegation assigned in Diyarbakır were not allowed by police to enter voting centers.
Korun also underlined that unsealed ballot papers being counted as valid poses a problem.
“The YSK has made a decision to count unsealed ballots valid in contravention of the law”.
Stressing the unconfirmed footage as to one person using multiple votes, Korun said “The complaints must be seriously taken into consideration and they are serious enough to change the results of the election”.
It was declared that the difference between “Yes” and “No” is 1,250,000 people. (YY/TK)
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) had sent an observer and criticized the YSK’s decision as to the unsealed ballots.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reacted to the criticism and said, “Know your place first. We won’t recognize, see or hear your political report. (YY/TK)
