Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova has said that hundreds of people including civilians died in Operation Olive Branch during the past 10 days.
According to a report in Sputnik News, Zakharova said:
“The government of Turkey states that the military campaign launched on January 20 into Afrin against the YPG (People’s Protection Units) is carried out in accordance with the right of self-defense, and aims to destroy the terrorist organizations.
“According to the obtained information, death toll has reached hundreds over the past 10 days.
“Indeed, we continue to monitor the situation in the region. The situation in northern Syria causes a serious worry.
“Moscow calls on the sides to act in moderation as part of Turkey’s campaign in Afrin”. (EKN/TK)
