President Erdoğan Congratulates İmamoğlu for Election Win

President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu on Twitter after he won the İstanbul mayoral election rerun.

Delivering "his best wishes" for the election results, he said, "The will of the nation is manifested one again today. I congratulate Ekrem İmamoğlu who won the elections according to unofficial results."

"We will head to our targets for 2023, without compromising democracy, the rule of law, peace, prosperity and stability of our country, with unity.

"We will continue to deal with Turkey's internal and external issues in line with our national interests, with the G20 summit at the end of this month, the China visit and southern Europe and Balkans summit." (AS/VK)
