Survey: People hold Erdoğan responsible for economy’s free fall

The Operational Research Company has shared the results of its October survey titled "Turkey's panel of politics."

The surveys were carried out with the participation of 2 thousand people in 27 provinces on October 27-November 3, 2021.

The survey results show that if Turkey had elections this Sunday, the votes to be received by the opposition's Nation's Alliance would be 4.7 percentage points higher than that of the ruling People's Alliance.

Without distributing the ones to not vote in the elections, the Nation's Alliance of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and İYİ Party would receive 38.9 percent of the votes while the People's Alliance of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) would receive 34.1 percent of the votes.

The participants of the survey also answered a question about the most urgent problems of Turkey awaiting a solution.

According to the survey results, the most urgent problems of Turkey are the economic crisis, unemployment and difficulty in making ends meet.

Moreover, 55 percent of the respondents held President and AKP Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan responsible for the bad economic situation in Turkey.

Margin between AKP and CHP getting narrower

In response to the question "For which party would you vote if Parliamentary elections were held this Sunday," 26.7 percent chose the AKP while 25.4 percent opted for the CHP, 10.3 for the İYİ Party, 8.8 percent for the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and 5.1 percent opted for the MHP.

When the floating votes and the ones who said that they would not vote were distributed, the rates increased to 31.8 percent for the AKP, 30.3 percent for the CHP, 13.1 percent for the İYİ Party, 10.6 percent for the HDP and 6.4 percent for the MHP. While 55 percent expressed their willingness for snap elections, 30 percent found snap elections unnecessary.

'The opposition will have the majority'

When they were asked "Which alliance would have the majority at the Parliament", 55.6 percent answered in favor of the opposition parties' Nation's Alliance. 44.4 percent opted for the ruling People's Alliance.

"Regardless of your own voting behavior, would President Erdoğan or the candidate of the opposition win the election if Presidential elections were held this Sunday," the respondents were also asked.

60.2 percent said that "the opposition would win against Erdoğan" while 39.8 percent said that Erdoğan would win the election.

'President Erdoğan is responsible'

63 percent of the participants said that "Turkey is managed poorly" and 23 percent said that "it is managed well."

The participants of the survey indicated that the bad management was related to the Presidential Government System and Erdoğan.

According to the survey results, 37 percent would vote for Erdoğan, 33 percent would vote for CHP Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and 12.5 percent would vote for HDP's jailed former Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş if they were nominated as the Presidential candidates in the first round.

The rate of those who said, "I would never vote for Erdoğan" increased from 56 percent to 57 percent in a month.

In the event that a second round was held as none of the candidates could get 50 percent in the first round, 52 percent of the participants said that they would vote for the opposition's candidate against Erdoğan while 32 percent said that they would vote for President Erdoğan.

İstanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu would get 14 percent and Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş would get 18 percent of votes in the second round of elections against Erdoğan. (RT/SD)
